A lot has changed since Bryan Dugan and Bill McKissick, Jr. opened their Lexington Park law practice on April Fool’s Day, 1994.

Bill jokes that if the firm ever failed, they could say it was all just an April Fool’s joke.

Bryan, a family law and litigation attorney, and Bill, a real estate and business law attorney, had both left a previous firm in hopes of building a practice in Southern Maryland.

The team’s expertise with transactional law and a period of rapidly increasing real estate activity positioned the firm to thrive in the region. With the addition of litigation attorney and fellow St. Mary’s county local Chris Longmore in 2000, the three partners pooled their legal expertise to form Dugan, McKissick, and Longmore, LLC. In 2021, Rebekka J. Hutchins and Samuel Wiest became partners to create a well-rounded law firm and the largest in Southern Maryland. Dugan, McKissick & Longmore, LLC is now the largest full-service law firm in St. Mary’s County.

In 2015, the partners created the in-house title company Blue Crab Title & Escrow, LLC, which conducts hundreds of residential and commercial closings each year.

Over the years, Bill, Chris, Rebekka, and Sam have given back to the community that supports their business. Dugan, McKissick & Longmore, LLC has partnered with several local non-profits to provide pro bono legal services and supports numerous community organizations.  These organizations include St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce, Hospice of St. Mary’s County, Christmas in April, a variety of churches, volunteer rescue squads, and other non-profits.
